Case Studies

  1. Mrs. Padmini sathe was diagnosed with glaucoma by an eminent ophthalmologist. She was advised eye drops. Which her causing her many symptoms. Not forgetting her level of anxiety. She walked in for a second opinion. I confirmed that she doesn't have glaucoma and does not need drops. Hestitating, she discontinued the drops. But kept a thorough checkup regularly with me. Today it's been 12 years and is fine with no glaucoma yet.

  2. A child with Downs syndrome reported to me. Parents mentioned that the child cannot see at all from either eye. He was seen early by 4 ophthalmologist but told that nothing could be done. I diagnosed as long standing retina detachment in both eyes. I suggest surgery for one eye that had a better chance but with no assurance. Parents took the chance and we did a successful surgery. Today it's been 4 years and the child has a fairly decent functional vision.

  3. A young male patient was gradually loosing his vision in both eyes. He was been seen by an ophthalmologist who did all the possible tests but could not find the cause. Patient was referred to me for opinion. A simple history taking revealed that he was on anti-tubercular medication. One of the drug "ethambutol" was causing ocular toxicity. I urged him (with confidence of his physician) to stop the medication immediately. Within 2 weeks he recovered full vision.
